@GT_Golf - #ProJackets Update

April 14, 2015

THE FLATS – Richard Werenski, who completed his four-year career at Georgia Tech and graduated in May, has made it through to the final stage of the “Big Break The Palm Beaches Florida” reality series on the Golf Channel. The finale, which was filmed in September, airs Monday night at 9 p.m. Werenski, now competing on the Web.com Tour, and Justin Martinson are the final two golfers remaining from an original cast of 12 (see story link below). Click here to watch last week’s episode 10.

Three former Georgia Tech golfers – Matt Kuchar, Larry Mize and Cameron Tringale – were in the field for the Masters Tournament, the first major championship of 2015, last week at Augusta National Golf Club. Cameron Tringale and Matt Kuchar both made the cut on the number (+2) and wound up tying for 38th and 46th places, respectively. Tringale rallied with a 69 on Saturday and finished at 289 (+1), while Kuchar went 72-74-72-72 for 290 (+2). Larry Mize, the 1987 champion, missed the cut after rounds of 78-73.

The Champions Tour (Greater Gwinnett Championship in Duluth, Ga.) and the Web.com Tour (El Bosque Mexico Championship) all resume competition this week.

Bo Andrews and Shun Yat Hak are competing this week in the PGA Tour Canada Q-School, taking place in Winter Garden, Fla. The 54-hole qualifier runs through Friday, with the medalist earning full exempt status. Finishers 2-through-18 are exempt through the first six events, and finishers 19-through-40 plus ties earn conditional status.

On the SwingThought.com Tour, Kyle Scott earned his first check of the season with a tie for 20th place (283, -5) at the Ocala/Marion County Classic at Ocala, Fla. James White and John-Tyler Griffin tied for 27th place (286, -2), while Seth Reeves tied for 56th.
