THE FLATS – Roberto Castro and Bryce Molder each flirted with PGA Tour victory last weekend in the rain-plagued Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss., each coming away with a tie for fourth place.

Castro opened by tying the competitive course record with a 62 on Thursday, the third time he has achieved that accomplishment. He previously did so in the 2013 Players at TPC Sawgrass (63) and the 2015 Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Dye’s Valley Course (62). The 2007 Tech graduate held the lead through 36 holes but dropped back after a third-round 75, and closed with a 69.

Molder opened with a 64 and stayed close to the lead, coming within one stroke during his final-round 69 on Monday. Both players finished with 16-under-par totals of 272.

It was Castro’s highest finish since his runner-up weekend at the 2013 AT&T National. For Molder, it was his third top-10 finish in the last two years (T3 at 2014 Frys.com Open, T6 at 2015 Greenbrier Classic).

Ollie Schniederjans, playing on his third tournament exemption of the fall, tied for 50th place at 281 (-7). He has earned $53,058 in three events this fall, and $213,165 in seven total events as a non-member of the PGA Tour since he graduated from Tech last spring.

Matt Kuchar and Stewart Cink continue their recent stretch of events outside the mainland United States when they compete in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba this weekend in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It will be Kuchar’s first official PGA Tour event of 2015-16 after having played in the Presidents Cup, the Fiji International and the Bridgestone America’s Cup this fall. Cink previously played in the Shriners Hospital Open in Las Vegas (T56) and the CIMB Classic in Malaysia (T17). Castro joins the field along with Molder and Nicholas Thompson, who missed the cut in Mississippi.

Web.com Tour Q-School – Three second stage events began Tuesday in Brooksville, Fla., Kingwood, Texas and McKinney, Texas, with two more set for Nov. 17-20 in Beaumont, Calif., and Plantation, Fla.

Drew Czuchry and Shun Yat Hak are in the field for the second stage event in Brooksville,Fla., while Kyle Scott is playing in Kingwood, Texas, and John-Tyler Griffin and Paul Haley are competing in McKinney, Texas. Ollie Schniederjans is entered in Beaumont, Calif., and Anders Albertson in Plantation, Fla.

Richard Werenski is exempt into the finals, which will be held Dec. 10-13 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
