THE FLATS – Matt Kuchar moved from South Korea, where he helped the United States to victory in the Presidents Cup, to Fiji, where he captured a three-stroke victory last weekend in the Fiji International, a PGA Australia event.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner and World No. 16 Kuchar had a total of 4-under-par 284 and was never further back than second place at the Natadolo Golf Club. Kuchar, with father Peter as caddie, had five birdies and one bogey in a composed final round in which he eased away from Price who trailed by two shots overnight and finished with a 71.

Kuchar has another international event on his fall calendar this week, competing in the Bridgestone America’s Cup Oct. 22-25 in Mexico City, Mexico, a PGA Tour LatinoAmerica event.

PGA Tour: Three of the five Tech alumni entered made the cut in last weekend’s Frys.com Open in Napa,Calif. Ollie Schniederjans, playing in the first of three fall PGA Tour events for which he has receive invitations, tied for 48th place with a 5-under-par total of 283. Cameron Tringale tied for 64th (286, -2) and Roberto Castro tied for 69th (288, E). Chesson Hadley and Bryce Molder missed the cut.

Stewart Cink joins those five players for this weekend’s Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas, Nev.

Champions Tour – Larry Mize tied for 34th with a 1-over-par total of 217 last weekend in the San Antonio Championship. The 1987 Masters champion stands 69th in Schwab Cup points in 2015, making 15 cuts in 17 events on the Champions Tour.

Web.com Tour Q-School – John-Tyler Griffin and Shun Yat Hak both advanced out of first-stage qualifying at different sites last week. Griffin, three-time All-American from 2007-11, tied for third place (7-under-par 277) in Kannapolis, N.C., where 26 players advanced. Hak, a freshman on Tech’s NCAA Championship semifinal team in 2013, tied for eighth place (10-under-par 278) at Nebraska City, Neb., where 27 players moved on.

Anders Albertson, Drew Czuchry and Kyle Scott prevoiusly advanced to the second stage with their performances Oct. 6-9 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. Matt Weibring is exempt into the second stage of Q-School, which takes place at five different sites between Nov. 10-20, while Richard Werenski is exempt into the finals, Dec. 10-13 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

SwingThought.com Tour – Regional series tours are in progress as Albertson and Czuchry are part of a small field in this week’s Atlanta Series event at Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta, competing for a $5,000 first prize. Albertson also is signed up for a Carolina Series event in Stanley, N.C., next week.
