Nissan #ProJackets Golf Report

Sept. 12, 2017

THE FLATS – Following a break in the schedule, the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour both resume their playoffs this week, the FedEx Cup moving to suburban Chicago for the BMW Championship and the Web.com Finals headed to Idaho for the Albertson’s Boise Open.

Matt Kuchar (No. 18), Ollie Schniederjans (No. 50) and Stewart Cink (No. 57) have advanced to this third stage, with Kuchar in solid position to qualify for the Tour Championship next weekend at East Lake Golf Club. The top 30 in FedEx Cup points after this week will come to Atlanta for the playoff finale.

Cink tied for 12th place at the Dell Technologies Championship two weekends ago and jumped from 81st to join the field this week. Schniederjans, a rookie whose runner up finish at the Wyndham Championship to end the regular season lifted him to 39th in points, has missed the cut in both playoff events and needs a big tournament this weekend to qualify.

Cink’s standing at No. 57 in FedEx Cup points is his highest since he finished at No. 54 in 2010. His best finish since then has been No. 82 (2011) and No. 83 (2013). He last advanced to the Tour Championship in 2009 (15th). Should Kuchar hold his position, he would qualify for the Tour Championship for the eighth consecutive year.

Matt Kuchar is No. 5 in this video of the Top-10 shots in the history of the FedExCup Playoffs, featuring amazing hole outs, aces and incredible finishes.

Web.com Tour: Seth Reeves made a good start in the Web.com Finals with his tie for 24th place in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship two weekends ago in Columbus, Ohio. The 2013 Tech graduate is tied for 18th in Finals earnings, and the top 25 after the four-event playoff will earn status on the PGA Tour for next season. Anders Albertson and Nicholas Thompson both missed the cut at the Nationwide and have three more events to improve their position.

Cameron Tringale tied for 50th place, and Roberto Castro tied for 56th, leading them outside the top 25 after the first event.

Chesson Hadley, who officially graduated from the Web.com Tour with his ninth place finish in the regular season, tied for 10th in the Nationwide event.

Elsewhere: Larry Mize has tied for 55th in each of the last two PGA Tour Champions events and stands 54th in Schwab Cup points. Two more events remain in the regular season schedule before the Schwab Cup playoffs commence … James White tied for 47th place last week in the Ontario Championship on the MacKenzie Tour, and plays in the Canadian Tour’s finale this week at the Freedom 55 Financial Championship.
