THE FLATS – As the PGA Tour heads toward the holiday break in its 2017-18 schedule, six former Yellow Jackets are finishing up their fall seasons at the RSN Classic this weekend in Sea Island, Ga. … J.T. Griffin and James White advance to the finals of Web.com Tour qualifying … That and more in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

Matt Kuchar, a Sea Island resident, returns to action after a long sojourn to Asia, while Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley, Ollie Schniederjans, Richy Werenski and Cameron Tringale all will join him at the Seaside Course.

Tringale led the Tech contingent at last weekend’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba, tying for 25th place (277, -3) and moving up to No. 105 in FedEx Cup points. Richy Werenski tied for 41st (279, -5) and stands at No. 114 on the points list. Stewart Cink (No. 71) missed the cut by a single shot, and Chesson Hadley (No. 8) was forced to withdraw midway through Saturday’s third round suffering the effects of possible food poisoning. Schniederjans (No. 49) took last weekend off.

Hadley and Tringale were among several current Tech pros who participated in Monday’s annual Ramblin’ Wreck fund-raiser at the Golf Club of Georgia, flying directly from Mexico to Atlanta and then heading down to Sea Island.

Sad to have to WD today. First time ever. Ate something Friday night that didn't sit well and haven't eaten anything since. Gave it a shot for 9 holes but had no energy and still didn't feel great. Going to get rested up and healthy to make sure I'm ready to roll next week.

Web.com Tour: J.T. Griffin and James White both advanced out of their second stage qualifying tournaments and are in the finals of the Web.com Tour qualifying school, which will be played Dec. 7-10 in Chandler, Ariz., where the top 45 finishers (and ties) earn full status on the Web.com Tour for 2018.

Griffin tied for 14th (283, -5) to advance out of the qualifier in Dothan, Ala., while White tied for fifth (276, -12) to advance from the qualifier in McKinney, Texas.

Bo Andrews (T-23, 278, -6) finished one shot below the cutline to advance in Plantation, Fla., while Vincent Whaley had a disappointing tie for 36th and did not advance in the event in his hometown of McKinney, Texas. Drew Czuchry tied for 51st and did not advance in Brooksville, Fla.
