New London, N.C. – Defending individual champion Anders Albertson fired a 4-under-par 68 Saturday to lead four Georgia Tech players under par, and the No. 2-ranked Yellow Jackets took over the 36-hole lead in search of their 15th all-time team title at the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship.

Seth Reeves shot 3-under-par 69, Ollie Schniederjans carded a 2-under-par 70 and Richard Werenski added a 1-under 71 as Tech posted a 10-under-par team total of 278, moving two strokes ahead of 19th-ranked Florida State with the final round set for Sunday.

All five Tech players matched or broke par Saturday – Bo Andrews’ even-par 72 did not count – in picture-perfect conditions on the 7,012-yard, par-72 Old North State Club. The Yellow Jackets, with a 10-under-par score of 566 for 36 holes, are bidding for their seventh ACC title in the last nine years and 10th under head coach Bruce Heppler.

The Seminoles shot 284 Saturday as all five players also matched or broke par, and FSU sits in second place at 568 (-8). Clemson, with a 7-under-par 281 in the second round, held onto third place at 6-under 570. Wake Forest (570, -3) is in fourth, followed by Notre Dame in fifth at 581. Rounding out the field are Virginia Tech (582), Virginia (586), North Carolina (586), NC State (589), Boston College (591), Maryland (593) and Duke (594).

“A better day for everyone all around today,” said Tech coach Bruce Heppler on a day when five of the 12 teams in the field broke par. “We’re in position to win, which is what we always want, and we expect it will be a shootout here tomorrow.”

Schniederjans’ 70 was good enough for him to maintain a three-stroke lead in the medal race with a 9-under-par total of 135. Clancy Waugh of Wake Forest posted a 5-under 67 Saturday and moved into second place at 6-under 138, while FSU’s Hank Lebioda is in third at 5-under 139.

Reeves (1-under 143) moved into a three-way tie for ninth place, while Albertson, the 2013 ACC champion, is in a group of six players tied for 13th place at even-par 144. Andrews is another shot back at 1-over 145, while Werenski is tied for 33rd at 148.

Sunday’s final round begins at 8:30 a.m., and Tech again will tee off at 11:30 a.m. with FSU and Clemson. Live online streaming coverage of the round is being offered on the ACC Digital Network beginning at 2 p.m.
