Nissan #ProJackets Golf Report

Jan. 24, 2017

THE FLATS – Richy Werenski posted the best finish of his career to date on the PGA Tour, tying for ninth place last weekend at the CareerBuilder Challenge at LaQuinta, Calif., the first stop on the Tour’s West Coast swing.

The 2014 Tech graduate was solid all weekend, firing rounds of 69-67-68-70 to finish at 14-under-par 274, six shots out of the lead. His performance lifted him to 79th in FedEx Cup points as he pushes to make the playoffs in his rookie season on Tour.

He was one of four former Yellow Jackets to make the 54-hole cut – the event uses three golf courses – with Roberto Castro and Bryce Molder tying for 50th place (281, -7) and Ollie Schniederjans tying for 58th (282, -6). Stewart Cink missed his first cut of the 2016-17 season, and Cameron Tringale did likewise in his first event of 2017.

All six of the former Jackets are back in action this weekend at one of the nation’s classic golf venues, Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., for the Farmers Insurance Open.

Thanks for a great tournament @cbgolfchallenge look forward to next year!

Cink was officially inducted into the Georgia State Golf Association Hall of Fame Saturday night, though he wasn’t able to personally accept due to the CareerBuilder Challenge. Cink was inducted along with Joe Inman, Jr., Jeff Knox and Jim Stamps. You can check out highlights of the evening here.

Honored to be inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame tonight. Thanks @GSGA! And thanks @chadparker2 for accepting on my behalf!
