THE FLATS – Chesson Hadley had to birdie the final two holes of his Friday round to make the cut, then shot 67-66 on the weekend to finish tied for 24th at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hadley’s birdie-birdie finish (see video link below from No. 18) came on the heels of a double-bogey at 15 and a bogey at 16. He birdied both of those holes in the final round Sunday to earn his eighth top-25 finish this year and surpass $1 million in earnings. He is No. 53 on the FedEx Cup points list.

Cameron Tringale (278, -2), 35th in FedEx Cup points, and Bryce Molder (280, E), at No. 93, also made the cut at the Crowne Plaza, finishing tied for 43rd and 58th respectively.

Seth Reeves, who graduated in 2014 and has played events on the SwingThought.com Tour this year, played his second event last weekend on the European Challenge Tour, tying for 35th place at the Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda in Gödersdorf, Austria, earning ?1,206.

In other action, Tar Heel state natives John-Tyler Griffin and Bo Andrews both took home money in the eGolf Tour’s Willow Creek Open in High Point, N.C. The Web.com Tour took the weekend off, and Larry Mize withdrew from the Senior PGA Championship.

Shun Yat Hak, a freshman at Tech in 2012-13 who helped the Jackets reach the semifinals of the NCAA Championship, is in the field for this year’s PGA Tour Canada opener, the PC Financial Open in Vancouver.

U.S. Open update: Three Georgia Tech players or alumni are among 74 individuals already exempt into the U.S. Open Field June 18-21 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. Current senior Ollie Schniederjans is in the field as the 2014 winner of the Mark H McCormack medal as the world’s top amateur player. Matt Kuchar and Tringale are exempt for having qualified for the 2014 Tour Championship and being listed among the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 25. Tech’s other Tour pros must qualify out of sectional tournaments being played around the country on June 8. Anders Albertson and Drew Czuchry, seniors on the 2014-15 Tech team, and recent graduates John-Tyler Griffin and James White are among those who will attempt to qualify on June 8.
