THE FLATS – Performances of note from former Yellow Jackets in week 1 of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season were highlighted by Bryce Molder tying for third place last weekend as the Frys.com Open in Napa, Calif.
The former Frys.com champion made a strong start to the 2014-15 season by firing rounds of 70-69-69-68 for a 12-under-par total of 276, three strokes shy of champion Sang-Moon Bae. Former Tech teammate Matt Kuchar tied for 21st place (-7) while Cameron Tringale tied for 26th (-6) and reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Chesson Hadley tied for 57th (-1).
Meanwhile, four recent Tech players – John-Tyler Griffin, Shun Yat Hak, Seth Reeves and Richard Werenski – advanced past the first stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying School.
