Seven former Georgia Tech stars are preparing for the second stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying School, which will take place over the next two weekends at six different sites.
Four of them will compete this weekend at two different sites – Richard Werenski at Southern Hills Plantation in Brooksville, Fla., and Paul Haley, Seth Reeves, Kyle Scott at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas). The other three – Shun Yat Hak at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City, Fla., John-Tyler Griffin at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, Calif., and James White at Plantation Reserve Golf Club in Plantation, Fla. – will try to advance Nov. 18-21.
Players will be competing to advance to the finals Dec. 11-16 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Tech had only two alumni make the cut last weekend at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss. – Nicholas Thompson finished tied for 35th (-4), and Roberto Castro tied for 58th (-1).
Thompson and Cameron Tringale are in the field for this week’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico, while Castro is listed as an alternate.
Bo Andrews, who advanced to the second stage of European Tour Qualifying School a month ago, will not make the finals. The 2014 Tech graduate stood among the top 17 after two rounds this weekend (the top 17 advance to the finals), but shot 75-79 in the final two rounds at Camp de Golf El Saler in Valencia, Spain.
