@GT_GOLF - #ProJackets Update

Sept. 1, 2015

THE FLATS – Four Georgia Tech alumni have advanced to this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship, the second stage of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with Bryce Molder making the most significant move with his performance last week at The Barclays.

Molder tied for 11th place after posting a 7-under-par total of 273 at Plainfield Country Club, jumping from 92nd to 58th in FedEx Cup points. Cameron Tringale tied for 30th place with his 2-under-par 278, moving up to 51st in points. Also advancing were Matt Kuchar, who tied for 39th at The Barclays and is 27th in points, and Chesson Hadley, who missed the cut but remained in the top 100 at 97th.

Stewart Cink fell one stroke shy of moving on. He tied for 39th along with Kuchar at 279, but he only moved up 14 positions in points to 102nd. Only the top 100 advanced to the Deutsche Bank this week.

Kuchar, Tringale and Molder are in good shape to continue on to next week’s BMW Championship (top 70 in points) if they at least hold their positions this weekend.

Champions Tour – Larry Mize continued his strong play of late by firing 67-68 in the final two rounds of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, N.Y., tying for eighth place and boosting his Schwab Cup ranking to No. 66. He tied for 18th place at the Boeing Championship in Seattle the previous week. It was the fifth top-25 finish in 14 events this year for the 1987 Masters champion.

Web.com Tour – Richard Werenski’s bid to make the Web.com Tour finals as a rookie came up short after the 2014 Tech graduate shot 6-under-par 278 to tie for 21st at the WinCo Foods Portland Open last weekend. Werenski finished 79th on the money list, and the top 75 advance to the Finals which begin next week. Matt Weibring also failed to advance after missing the cut and finishing 87th in earning.

SwingThought.comSeth Reeves and James White were the top two players on the leaderboard after 54 holes, but each dropped back in the final round of the Woodcreek Classic last weekend in Elgin, S.C. Reeves wound up in a tie for fifth place at 14-under-par 270, while White tied for 15th at 11-under 273. Three events remain on the 2015 schedule.

This Week’s Hot Links

Bryce Molder rolls in an 18-foot putt for birdie as part of his opening-round 66 at The Barclays.

Looking foward to more opportunities ahead. Gotta keep grinding and getting better. Every shot counts. Fun stuff ahead! #playbetter
