Five former Yellow Jackets are set to compete this week in the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational, which takes place at Bay Hill Club and Lodge – Anders Albertson, Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley, Ollie Schniederjans and Richy Werenski.
All five were in the field at last week’s Honda Classic at the difficult PGA National Champions course, where the winning score was 9-under-par. Hadley and Roberto Castro tied for 20th place at 1-under-par 279, while Cameron Tringale tied for 36th place at 281 (+1). Cink and Werenski made the cut and earned paychecks, but did not finish, while Albertson, Schniederjans and Seth Reeves missed the 36-hole cut.
Matt Kuchar, who did not play at the Honda and is not in the field for the API, remains Georgia Tech’s top alumnus on the FedEx Cup points list at No. 2, while Hadley is No. 42, Werenski is No. 58, Albertson is No. 102 and Castro is No. 110.
Elsewhere: Larry Mize returned to action at the PGA tour Champions Cologuard Classic, thing for 33rd place. Mize, the 1987 Masters champion, is No. 61 in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. The Web.com Tour remains idle until March 21-24.
