Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report

THE FLATS – Jackets make a rebound at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, five players compete on the weekend … Vincent Whaley is 3-for-3 in cuts made on the Web.com Tour … This and more in the Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report.

After going 0-for-8 in cuts made at the Desert Classic the previous weekend, Georgia Tech alumni rebounded last weekend with five of six playing the weekend at the TPC Scottsdale – Matt Kuchar, Chesson Hadley, Ollie Schniederjans, Stewart Cink and Richy Werenski all took home paychecks.

Matt Kuchar continued his high-level play by tying for fourth place, the 101st top-10 finish of his stellar career, and maintaining his No. 2 standing in the FedEx Cup race. Kuchar, who has won twice this season, weathered a final-round 75 when all the scores rose with poor weather, and finished five shots behind champion Rickie Fowler.

Hadley (No. 40 in FedEx Cup points) ended a string of three straight missed cuts and tied for 20th place, while Ollie Schniederjans posted his best finish of the season to date (T33) and made the biggest jump in the FedEx Cup standings. Cink (No. 106) tied for 50th, and Werenski (No. 42) tied for 60th.

Anders Albertson, who missed the cut at the Waste Management event last weekend, tries again this week at famed Pebble Beach Golf Links for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. David Duval, who still competes occasionally while handling his analyst duties for Golf Channel, is in the field along with Hadley, Kuchar and Werenski.

Roberto Castro, Seth Reeves and Cameron Tringale, all of whom took last weekend off, are in the field giving the Yellow Jackets eight alumni in the field at Pebble Beach.

Web.com Tour: Vincent Whaley made his third straight cut on the Web.com Tour last weekend, tying for 42nd place at the Country Club de Bogota Championship in Bogota, Columbia as that tour swings through South and Central America. Whaley, a rookie who guaranteed himself eight starts by finishing among the top 40 at the Web.com Q-School finals, has earned more than $70,000, most of that by finishing second at the Great Abaco Classic, sits at No. 5 in the new Web.com Tour points standings and has become one of the players to watch each week.
