THE FLATS – Three of four Yellow Jacket alumni made the cut in last weekend’s Career Builder Challenge, the first event on the PGA Tour’s West Coast swing, and those three helped themselves in terms of FedEx Cup points … Meanwhile, all four Tech alums on the Web.com Tour are in action this week in that tour’s second event in The Bahamas … This and more in this week’s ProJackets Golf Report.
Stewart Cink continues to play solid golf on the PGA Tour, building on the excellent 2017-18 campaign he posted after playing a limited schedule in 2016-17 to tend to the health of his wife, Lisa. Cink tied for 20th place at LaQuinta, posting a 14-under-par total of 274 that included a third-round 65. He is in 66th place in Fed Ex Cup points after earning his second-best finish of the 2017-18 season.
Meanwhile, Richy Werenski gave himself a big boost after missing the cut the week before, tying for 29th place, his best finish of the current season. He opened with a pair of 67s before settling back on the weekend with rounds of 71-70 to finish at 13-under-par 275. He jumped 23 spots to 118th in FedEx Cup points.
Chesson Hadley, playing his first event since the fall portion of the schedule, tied for 42nd place with four steady rounds of 71-67-69-70 to finish at 11-under-par 277, and held steady in FedEx Cup points at No. 13.
Ollie Schniederjans returns to action after a week off to join Cink, Hadley, Werenski and Cameron Tringale at one of golf’s iconic venues this week when the Tour moves to La Jolla, Calif., for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Club.
In the second round of the 2018 CareerBuilder Challenge, Stewart Cink’s 112-yard approach comes to rest inside a foot on the par-4 12th hole on PGA West’s Stadium Course, setting up a tap-in birdie.
Tough way to finish with a couple bogies. Had it going there for a bit. Didn’t drive the ball well enough to contend this week. Gonna need to get the donkey dialed in for next week. The South Course at Torrey Pines is a big boy golf course. Looking forward to the @FarmersInsOpen!

Web.com Tour: All four eligible Yellow Jacket alumni are competing this week in the Great Abaco Classic in The Bahamas, which is through the first two rounds as this update is posted. Seth Reeves opened with rounds of 66-69 and is tied for second place, one shot off the lead after 36 holes. Anders Albertson (T-36) and Roberto Castro (T-47) both rebounded from rough opening rounds to make the cut.
Following his opening-round 66 at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at Abaco Club, Seth Reeves discusses what he learned last season and how it will help him in 2018.
