THE FLATS – With the Web.com Tour off for two more weeks and only three former Georgia Tech players in the field at the Genesis Open, it was a light weekend for the Yellow Jackets on the PGA Tour … Matt Kuchar tied for 26th place at Riviera, while Larry Mize tied for 54th at the Chubb Classic on the Champions Tour … this and more in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.
Kuchar made the cut on the number, then shot a pair of 69s on the weekend to finish 10 shots behind champion Bubba Watson. He remains 84th in FedEx Cup points as the Tour heads to his home state of Florida this week. Ollie Schniederjans (by one stroke) and Cameron Tringale missed the cut.
After taking the week off, Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley and Richy Werenski return to action this week along with Schniederjans at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., along with Schniederjans and Tringale. Cink (T27), Schniederjans (T48) and Tringale (65th) all made the cut last year in this event.
PGA Tour Champions: Former Masters champion Larry Mize continued to grind away on the Champions Tour, last weekend finishing in a tie for 54th at the Chubb Classic in Naples, Fla., with a 54-hole total of 214 (-2). The tour is off this week before moving to Arizona for next week’s Cologuard Classic.
