THE FLATS – Four former Georgia Tech players – Anders Albertson, Kyle Scott, Ollie Schniederjans and Richard Werenski – finished in the top 45 of the final stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying School and earned playing status on the Web.com Tour for 2016.

The top 45 and ties out of the 156 competitors last weekend at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., earned playing status at least through the second periodic re-order of the season. Albertson and Scott were among the players tied for 45th place, both with 72-hole scores of 294 (-2).

Richard Werenski, who was exempt past the first and second stages of Q-school, tied for 34th place at 283 (-3) and also has status through the second periodic re-order.

Ollie Schniederjans, who played four PGA Tour events this summer and four more in the first part of the 2015-16 season this fall, tied for ninth place and is exempt until the third periodic re-order of the 2016 season. He shot a 6-under-par 280, which was 14 shots off the lead of winner Adam Svensson.

PGA Tour – Matt Kuchar and former Georgia player Harris English posted their second-runner-up finish at the Franklin Templeton Shootout last weekend. In the two-man scramble/alternate shot/better ball event at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla., Kuchar and English went 28-under-par over 54 holes to finish two shots behind Jason Dufner and Brandt Snedeker and earn $242,500. In the last three years, Kuchar and English have won once and finished second twice.

Cameron Tringale and Camilo Villegas finished fifth at 21-under-par and picked up $100,000. Tringale won the event with Jason Day last December.

Champions Tour – Stewart Cink and his son Connor tied for ninth place, three shots out of the lead, in a tight race at last weekend’s PNC Father-Son Challenge, which took place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The former Tech All-American and Connor, a Clemson graduate, shot 63-64 for a 17-under-par total of 127.
