THE FLATS – Former Georgia Tech teammates Matt Kuchar and Bryce Molder both earned top-10 finishes last weekend at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, S.C.
Kuchar opened with a 67 and wound up in a tie for ninth place at 281 (-3), while Molder closed with a 67 and tied for sixth at 280 (-4). Their performances gave them a significant boost in Fed Ex Cup standing, Molder from 102nd place to 75th, and Kuchar from 58th to 47th.
Molder has made seven cuts in 14 events, including each of the last four he has entered, and earned three top-10 finishes in 2015-16. Kuchar has made 10 cuts in 11 events with three top-10s, and is nearing $1 million in earnings for 2015-16.
In the second round of the 2016 RBC Heritage, Matt Kuchar’s 76-yard pitch rolls out to within inches on the par-4 9th hole, resulting in birdie.
Kuchar and Molder are in the field for this week’s Valero Texas Open in San Antonio along with Roberto Castro and Chesson Hadley, who both missed the cut at the RBC Heritage, and Cameron Tringale, who is playing for the first time since the Shell Houston Open three weeks ago.
Castro took time out this week to participate in a fund-raiser for Camp Twin Lakes at East Lake Golf Club.

The Web.com Tour returns after a week off with the El Bosque Mexico Championship. Anders Alberton, Ollie Schniederjans and Richard Werenski, all among the Tour’s Top 25 in earnings at this point, are in the field along with Kyle Scott, who has Web.com Tour status for the first nine events of 2016. Matt Weibring is an alternate.
