THE FLATS – It was a rough weekend for Georgia Tech’s alumni on tour, with only two of 10 former Yellow Jackets making cuts and cashing checks.
In the second of two exemptions on the West Coast swing, Ollie Schniederjans picked up his first check since the fall by tying for 49th place (294, +6). The three-time Tech All-American begins competition on the Web.com Tour with a trip to South America this weekend in the Club Colombia Championship.
Chesson Hadley also played on the weekend and tied for 58th place (295, +7). He fared better than many of the competitors in a final round that was marred by severe inclement weather and shot 77. Stewart Cink, Cameron Tringale and Bryce Molder all missed the cut.
The same was true for all five former Tech players – Anders Albertson, Troy Matteson, Kyle Scott, Nicholas Thompson and Richard Werenski – who competed in the Web.com Tour opener at the Panama Claro Championship.
Schniederjans is the player to watch this weekend at the Club Colombia Championship, according to PGA Tour.com (see link below). He’ll be joined there by Albertson, Matteson, Scott and Werenski.
The PGA Tour moves this week to Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where Hadley, Molder and Tringale are set to compete.
