Hello, My Name is ... Michael Pisciotta

THE FLATS – The top-ranked player in the state of Georgia in the class of 2014 according to the Junior Golf Scoreboard, Michael Pisciotta was a consensus top 50 player nationally when he enrolled at Georgia Tech.

He played one tournament in the fall for Tech, the United States Collegiate Championship, following a pair of solid summer finishes in the U.S. Amateur qualifier in Atlanta and the Southeastern Amateur in Columbus.

Pisciotta earned six top-10 finishes in junior events over the three years prior to his enrollment at Tech, including a victory at the 2011 AJGA Huntsville Junior. He has been recognized for doing charity work, raising money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation, when he received the Paul S. Simon Character Award at the 2013 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club, one of the nation’s premier amateur events.

He has two sisters – Caitlin, who plays college golf at SMU, and Carolyn, who is studying mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech.

Most Memorable Sports Moment: I remember watching Tiger Woods beat Rocco Mediate in the 2008 U.S. Open in the playoff. This is when Tiger had his knee injury and still won his 14th major.
Pregame Ritual: wake up, eat breakfast, stretch
My Focus This Summer: my focus this summer is to win an amateur event, and make the U.S. Amateur.
Favorite Coach Heppler Phrase: My favorite Coach Heppler phrase is “You need to turn that pride meter all the way up.” Coach goes into how we need to do our best at everything; we should not slack off in whatever we do.
What I Like Most About Georgia Tech: I like how Georgia Tech forces the best out of you. Not only golf wise is Georgia Tech challenging, but everyone is very smart and if you do not keep up, it is easy to be left behind. I think that this makes everyone work harder to try to do their very best and to keep improving at what they do.
