THE FLATS – Three of the five former Georgia Tech players who teed it up at The Players last weekend earned money, led by Chesson Hadley’s tie for 24th place.
Hadley earned his third top-10 finish in 18 events, moving into contention with a Saturday 66 and finishing at 5-under-par 283. Cameron Tringale tied for 56th place at even-par 288, while Bryce Molder finished another stroke back at 1-over 289.
Stewart Cink and Nicholas Thompson join Hadley in the field for this weekend’s Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, N.C. The Champions Tour, Web.com Tour and SwingThought.com Tours also resume this weekend after being idle, while the eGolf Tour resumes next week.
Several other Tech alumni competed in local qualifiers for the 115th U.S. Open Championship at various locations, including Kyle Scott, who lost a playoff for an alternate spot Monday at the Legends at Chateau Elan. Bo Andrews, John-Tyler Griffin and James White were entered in the local qualifier Tuesday at the Golf Club of Georgia.
