Tallahassee, Fla. – Freshman Anders Albertson shot a personal collegiate low 66 Saturday (5 under par), lifting Georgia Tech into sole possession of the lead after 36 holes at the Seminole Intercollegiate golf tournament.

The first-year player from Woodstock, Ga., led four Yellow Jackets in red figures Saturday, spurring 8th-ranked Tech to a 10-under-par team score of 274 and a 5-shot lead over host Florida State. All-American James White posted his second consecutive 68, while sophomores Bo Andrews and Seth Reeves each shot 1-under 70 for the second straight day.

Tech has a 36-hole total of 552, 16 strokes under par. FSU shot 279 (5-under-par) Saturday and stands second at 11-under 557 for the tournament. The rest of the 18-team field is 12 shots back of the Seminoles. Kennesaw State is third at 1-over 567, followed by Mercer (+2) and Jacksonville (+5) top five.

“We had a very good round today,” said head coach Bruce Heppler. “Everyone was in the round the entire day. Anders played solidly, and James continues to play well every day. Our guys are looking forward to another day of competition tomorrow.”

Albertson had one bogey and six birdies on his card in round two Saturday on the 7,190-yard, par 71 Southwoods Country Club course. He had shot 67 on three other occasions this year. White, a senior from Acworth, Ga., birdied four holes with one bogey.

All four Tech golfers are in the top 10 individually entering Sunday’s final round. White, who extended his string of par-or-better rounds to 11, is in third place along wt 6-under-par 136, two strokes behind the Seminoles’ Chase Seifert (8-under 134 with a pair of 67s). First-round leader Jeff Karlsson of Kennesaw State is in second place at 7-under 135 following a second-round 70.

Albertson is in a three-way tie for fifth place at 4-under 138, while Andrews and Reeves are tied for 10th at 2-under 140. Freshman Ollie Schniederjans, competing as an individual, added a 72 to his opening 73 and is tied for 35th place.
