Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report

Oct. 24, 2017

THE FLATS – The PGA Tour returns to the United States this week after a two-week swing in Asia, but Matt Kuchar will make his 2017-18 debut in the World Golf Championships — HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, China. It is Kuchar’s first action since helping the United States to a victory in the Presidents Cup in late September.

Because he advanced to the Tour Championship and finished in the top 30 in FedEx Cup points in 2016-17, Kuchar is eligible for all WGC events and all four majors in 2018. He also eligible due to his No. 14 position in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Stateside, the PGA Tour is in Jackson, Miss., for the Sanderson Farms Championship, where Chesson Hadley, Nicholas Thompson, Cameron Tringale and Richy Werenski are in the field. Troy Matteson is an alternate. Werenski tied for 37th at the Safeway Open and made the trip to Malaysia for the CIMB Classic (T63) but took last week off.

Ollie Schniederjans (T19) and Stewart Cink (T33) both had solid performances last weekend in The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in South Korea and are taking this week off.

In the second round of THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES 2017, Ollie Schniederjans holes his birdie putt from 30 feet on the par-4 6th hole.

Great trip around the world from Napa to Malaysia to Korea on pgatour to start a new season…. https://t.co/wnXwMHwJ7D

Web.com Tour: Bo Andrews, Drew Czuchry, J.T. Griffin, Vincent Whaley and James White all advanced out of the first stage of qualifying school for the Web.com Tour two weeks ago (their scores and finish are listed below) and will compete in second stage qualifying events in the next two weeks. Two of the five venues hold qualifiers Oct. 31-Nov. 3, and the three others conduct theirs Nov. 7-10. Survivors advance to the final stage Dec. 7-10 in Chandler, Ariz., where the top 45 finishers (and ties) earn full status on the Web.com Tour for 2018.
