THE FLATS – Georgia Tech alumni are back in action this week as the PGA Tour resumes its schedule of full-field events for the 2017-18 season with the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Stewart Cink, Ollie Schniederjans, Cameron Tringale and Richy Werenski are all in the field.
Schniederjans (No. 64) and Cink (No. 71) are in solid shape in terms of FedEx Cup ranking as the 2018 calendar year begins, while Tringale (No. 132) and Werenski (No. 137) look to make some progress during the West Coast portion of the schedule. Chesson Hadley, last year’s Web.com Tour Player of the Year who has posted three top-10 finishes already on the PGA Tour this season and ranks 10th in FedEx Cup points, is not in the field this week.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it. Schniederjans has signed on to be the host of the American Junior Golf Association event, the Callaway Golf / Ollie Schniederjans Junior Classic, April 27-29, 2018 at The Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, Ga. (see tweet below).
