TRINGALE PLAYS NEAR LEAD AGAIN, WHALEY SOLID IN HOUSTON

Cameron Tringale continued his fast start to the 2021-22 season, while Vincent Whaley has worked to solidify his status in his second full season on the PGA Tour.

Tringale posted his second top-10 finish of the season and 28^th of his career with 5-under-par score of 275, five strokes off the lead and good for a tie for seventh place. Missing only one cut in seven events during the fall part of the season, Tringale heads into January at No. 11 on the FedEx Cup points list.

Whaley jumped to 53^rd place in points after tying for 15^th place in Houston, posting a 3-under-par total of 277. It was his second-best finish in the fall season, in which he has made four straight cuts and scored a collective 25-under-par over his last 16 rounds.

The final event on the Tour schedule before the holiday season takes place this weekend in Sea Island, Ga., with the RSM Classic, where the Yellow Jackets are typically well represented. Matt Kuchar, who lives on the island, and Seth Reeves return to action along with Stewart Cink and Chesson Hadley, who both missed the cut in Houston, Richy Werenski and Whaley.

Matt Kuchar will team up once again with former Georgia All-American Harris English in an attempt to win their third title together at the QBE Shootout, an unofficial PGA Tour event which will be held Dec. 8-12 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. The duo won the event in 2013, 2014 and 2016, and finished second in 2015.

Kuchar, Stewart Cink and David Duval are all entered in the field for the annual PNC Father-Son championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. Cink and Duval (and their sons) have both won this event.
