THE FLATS – Vincent Whaley cards his third career top-10 finish on the PGA Tour … J.T. Griffin, Andy Ogletree and Chris Petefish competing in finals of the KFT Q-School this week … More details below in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

WHALEY FINISHES IN TOP 10 AT BERMUDA
Vincent Whaley posted the third top-10 finish of his career and moved past $1 million in career earnings last weekend when he tied for seventh place at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The second-year PGA Tour pro had or shared the lead during the first two rounds of the event, and wound up at 11-under-par 273, four shots off the pace of winner Lucas Herbert.
Whaley, who has made three starts and made two cuts in the 2021-22 season, moved up to 63rd in FedEx Cup points.
Meanwhile, Seth Reeves was the only other Yellow Jacket in the field and tied for 57th place at 1-under-par 283, and sits at No. 60 in FedEx Cup points.
The PGA Tour moves to Mexico this week for the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, an event won by Matt Kuchar in 2019. Kuchar is back in the field this year, joining Whaley, Cameron Tringale, Richy Werenski.

OGLETREE, PETEFISH, GRIFFIN IN KORN FERRY Q-SCHOOL FINALS
Andy Ogletree and Chris Petefish, who earned at least partial status on the Korn Ferry Tour for 2022 by advancing to the Korn Ferry Tour Q-School Finals, will compete for full status this week when the finals are held Thursday through Sunday in Savannah, Ga.
Ogletree finished second at the second-stage event at Dothan, Ala., with a 16-under-par total of 272, one stroke shy of winning the event. The 2019 U.S. Amateur champion, Ogletree has played in 10 PGA Tour events but hadn’t made a start in a KFT event having spent the last five months in 2021 recovering after undergoing hip surgery in April. The Little Rock, Miss., native returned at the Sanderson Farms Championship on another sponsor’s invite and made the cut.
Petefish, a California native who now lives in Cumming, Ga., was one of 19 players to advanced from the second-stage event in Murrieta, Calif., tying for eighth place at 10-under-par 278. The Danville, Calif., native spent last season on the Forme Tour.
J.T. Griffin, who didn’t finish in the top 75 in Korn Ferry Tour points this past season, is also looking to regain status in the finals.
Tech’s only holdovers on the Korn Ferry Tour from 2020-21 with full status are Anders Albertson are Ollie Schniederjans.

THIS AND THAT
Matt Kuchar will team up once again with former Georgia All-American Harris English in an attempt to win their third title together at the QBE Shootout, an unofficial PGA Tour event which will be held Dec. 8-12 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. The duo won the event in 2013, 2014 and 2016, and finished second in 2015.
Kuchar, Stewart Cink and David Duval are all entered in the field for the annual PNC Father-Son championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. Cink and Duval (and their sons) have both won this event.
Cameron Tringale, who finished runner-up at the ZOZO Championship two weeks ago in Japan, is the first PGA Tour golfer to collect more than $15 million in career earnings without winning a tournament. He has earned more than $1 million this year in just four starts. Another former Tech star, Briny Baird, who won more than $13 million on tour, also is one of 10 tour golfers to earn more than $10 million in their careers without a victory.
Tyler Strafaci, who played in a GPro Tour event last week in Savannah, has committed to play in the Big Money Golf Classic, December 15-17 at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Fla. The organizers have also announced a Big Money Tour, 15 events to begin in March of 2022 with a first prize of $50,000.
