ATLANTA (March 1) – Georgia Tech’s men’s golf team moved to the top spot in MasterCard Collegiate Golf Foundation poll Wednesday, March 1, on the heels of victories in both the Waikoloa Intercollegiate and San Juan Shootout tournaments this spring. The Jackets have been atop the Golfweek computer ranking since last fall.
Tech is tied with Brigham Young for total victories with three this year on the Rolex Collegiate Tour after capturing the Carpet Capital Collegiate in October. Junior Bryce Molder (Conway, Ark.) ranks first among individual players with a rating of 197.725, while senior Matt Kuchar (Lake Mary, Fla.) is third with a ranking of 194.300. The Mastercard CGF poll is released weekly during the season and is adminstered by Golfstat. Molder is currently third in the Golfweek ranking, while Kuchar has moved up to fourth, in the ranking that is produced by the Jeff Sagarin system.
Tech is currently the defending Atlantic Coast Conference defending champion and the two-time NCAA East Regional champion and next plays in the Golf Digest Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, Nev., March 10-12.
