Tringale Leads Jacket Charge at Farmers Insurance Open

Feb. 1, 2012

La Jolla, Calif. – Georgia Tech All-American Cameron Tringale posted his best finish of the 2012 PGA Tour season Sunday, tying for fourth place with Wake Forest alumnus Bill Haas at the Farmers Insurance Open in La Jolla, Calif., four shots behind Vanderbilt alum Brandt Snedeker and former Clemson All-American Kyle Stanley. Snedeker won the title in a playoff.

Tringale, the 2009 Tech graduate from Laguna Niguel, Calif., shot 67-72-66-71 for a 12-under-par total of 276. He was one of four Tech All-Americans who finished among the top 33 players. Former national players of the year Bryce Molder and Stewart Cink tied for 13th place at 9-under-par, while Tour rooke Roberto Castro tied for 33rd at 6-under-par, his best finish so far.

Tringale has earned more nearly $300,000 in official money this year and ranks 21st in FedEx Cup points, while Molder is 26th and Cink 44th on the list. Molder tied for seventh at the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions and also has earned nearly $300,000 this year in three events.

Castro, a 2007 Tech graduate from Alpharetta, Ga., has made the cut in both events in which he has played and ranks 66th in FedEx Cup points.

Cink, Molder and Tringale are all in the field for this weekend’s Waste Management Phoenix Open along with Matt Kuchar and Troy Matteson. Kuchar tied for 22nd at the Humana Challenge, his only event to date this year.
