ATLANTA (Oct. 7) – Georgia Tech’s golf team, coming off of a victory at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, has moved to No. 2 in the Golfweek computer ranking. The Yellow Jackets, who began the year ranked No. 5, moved up after topping a field of 15 teams that included 12 top-25 schools.
Tech is currently No. 7 in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Foundation poll, which balloting took place before the Carpet Capital Collegiate. The Golfweek ranking is maintained by Jeff Sagarin computer rankings, while the MasterCard poll is currently voted upon by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Junior Bryce Molder (Conway, Ark.), is currently No. 4 in the indiviudal ranking with a record of 143-13-2, including a 25-9-2 mark against top 50 individuals. Senior Matt Kuchar (Lake Mary, Fla.) is No 14 with a 135-19-4 record, while sophomore Kris Mikkelsen (Woodstock, Ga.) is No. 39 and redshirt-freshman Troy Matteson (Austin, Texas) is No. 41 with a 108-40-10 mark in two tournaments.
The Jackets will next be in action Oct. 17-18 at the Iron Duke Golf Classic in Durham, N.C.
