Las Vegas, Nev. – Ollie Schniederjans fired a 2-under-par 70, the best round by a Georgia Tech player over the weekend, and the third-ranked Yellow Jackets posted their best team score of the weekend and finished 12th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters.
The round by Schniederjans was the only subpar round by a Tech player on the 7,510-yard, par 72 Southern Highlands Golf Club in the tournament, and the junior from Powder Springs, Ga., finished in a tie for 12th place individually at 6-over-par 222, five shots behind medalist Patrick Rodgers of Stanford (217, +1).
Tech, meanwhile, turned in a 12-over-par 300 Sunday and finished 54 holes at 917 (+54). Seth Reeves shot a 3-over 75 Sunday, Bo Andrews added a 76 and Anders Albertson and Richard Werenski each shot 79.
Host UNLV completed a wire-to-wire victory on its home course with a 22-over-par total of 886, two shots ahead of 10th-ranked Stanford (+24) and No. 2 Oklahoma State (+24). Top-ranked Alabama (+33) and No. 19 UCLA (+33) tied for fourth place. The 15-team field includes the nation’s top five teams and 11 of the nation’s top 25.
Only three teams broke par for a single round during the tournament, and only 21 subpar rounds were recorded by individuals.
Tech returns to action March 24-25 at the Floridian Intercollegiate in Palm City, Fla.
