March 23, 2012

Live scoring and results

Play was halted with all 16 teams still on the course Thursday night at the Barona Creek Golf Club. San Diego State, ranked 12th in the nation and host of the event, had surged from third place to take a nine shot lead over first-round leader Kent State. The Aztecs were 11-under-par through 14 holes of the second round, and 23-under-par for the tournament.

The 26th-ranked Golden Flashes stood at 14-under-par, followed by No. 10 Southern California and No. 37 North Texas at 13-under-par. TCU was in fifth at 7-under, and Tech sixth at 2-under.

The Yellow Jackets struggled in the second round, slipping six strokes to par through 14 holes, but only one position on the leaderboard, when play was halted. Albertson continued to play well, 3-under through 15 holes, and was tied for fourth place at 8-under, just one shot behind Anders Engell of St. Mary’s, J.J. Spaun of San Diego State and Taylor Pendrith of Kent State.

Tech posted a team score of 352 (8 under par) in the opening round of the event, in which the best five scores among six competing players count toward the team total, and were nine strokes back of leader Kent State (343) when the second round began. Albertson and Andrews were tied for 8th place individually, three strokes behind Engell.

Seth Reeves fired a 1-under 71 and was in a tie for 34th, while Ollie Schniederjans added a 73, and James White and Richard Werenski each shot 74.

Play resumes in the second round at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with the final 18 holes scheduled to follow.
