THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech baseball team will conclude its 2017 fall practice season with its annual White vs. Gold World Series beginning this Friday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. and ending next week on Friday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. Admission is free to all three intrasquad contests at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets will once again play a three-game series with the first game set for Friday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. ET. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. ET, while Game 3 is slated for Friday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. ET.
The pitching match-ups for the series will be RHP Xzavion Curry (White) vs. RHP Jake Lee in Game 1 on Friday (Nov. 10), LHP Connor Thomas (White) vs. RHP Hugh Chapman (Gold) in Game 2 on Sunday (Nov. 12) and RHP Ben Schniederjans (White) vs. RHP Jonathan Hughes (Gold) in the finale next Friday (Nov. 17).
Entering his 25th season as the Yellow Jackets’ skipper in 2018, head coach Danny Hall returns 23 players from last year’s team, highlighted by 2017 Collegiate Baseball second-team all-American and first-team all-ACC infielder Wade Bailey, 2017 Johnny Bench Award Semifinalist and second-team all-ACC catcher Joey Bart, and 2017 NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball freshman all-American Austin Wilhite.
The 2018 roster also includes the return of all-conference performers Kel Johnson and Tristin English from injury, as well as 12 freshmen headlined by 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft selections Oscar Serratos, Colin Hall and Baron Radcliff.
