Before Tech: Five-year player for the Home Plate Citadels, a home-school team, coached by Esteban Maldanado … Served as the team captain in both his junior and senior seasons … Selected to the Team USA U17 roster in 2013 and won a gold medal after defeating Japan in the championship game in Taiwan … Played summer seasons at East Cobb Baseball and won a total of seven national championships … Named the East Cobb Baseball 17U MVP and Offensive Player of the Year for the East Cobb Astros twice … Holds the East Cobb 16U single-season record for home runs with 24 … Recognized as a 2014 Perfect Game all-American … Lists his favorite baseball memory as hitting in the 2013 Youth Select Home Run Derby where he hit 11 home runs in front of 50,000 fans at the New York Mets’ Citi Field … Maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his high school career … Chose Georgia Tech for its proximity to home, the combination of baseball and academics, and because he has always been a huge Georgia Tech fan.
