No. 4 Golfers Finish Tied for Fifth at Atlanta Intercollegiate

ATLANTA – Nicholas Thompson was Georgia Tech’s only top-10 finisher, as the Jackets finished tied for fifth at the Atlanta Intercollegiate in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Tech shot two-under-par for the tournament being held at Eagles Landing Country Club (6,899 yards/par 72) as the Yellow Jackets finished fifth. Georgia Tech finished behind No. 1 Florida, No. 12 South Carolina, tournament host Georgia State, No. 2 Clemson and finished tied with No. 3 Georgia. The fifth place finish marks the third straight tournament that Georgia Tech has finished in the top-10 and the second straight tournament in the top-five.

Thompson fired a round of even par to lead the Jackets with an eighth place finish. Mike Barbosa continued his hot play carding a one-over par 73 to finish tied for fifteenth. Only one player from Tech carded a round below par on the afternoon, as Kevin Larsen posted a one-under-par 71.

Rounding out the scoring for Tech, were Roberto Castro and Chan Wongluekiet who both carded a final round of 75 finishing tied for 31st and 41st respectively.

The Jackets return to action to compete in the Atlantic Coast Confernce Championships to be held April 16-18, at Uwharrie Point, North Carolina at the Old North State Club (7,100 yards/par 72).
