Former Georgia Tech All-American James White earned his first SwingThought.com Tour victory and his biggest paycheck last weekend when he captured a three-stroke victory in the season-opening event on the that Tour’s national pro series.
White, a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer and a first-team All-American in 2011, won the event at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga., with a 9-under-par score of 279. He won $16,500. Seth Reeves tied for third place at 5-under-par 283, picking up a check for $5,875.
White had been in the winner’s circle in some smaller events, and had lost a sudden death playoff in a SwingThought.com national pro series event in 2013.

Matt Kuchar was the only other Tech alumnus in action last weekend, earning a nice check and a 16-spot bump in the FedEx Cup points rankings by tying for 28th place last weekend at the WGC Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. Kuchar shot 290 (+2), and also joined in a little fun before the tournament began.
Before competition begins at the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship, Matt Kuchar spends time with his fans at the Grey Goose 19th Hole Lounge signing autographs and playing some table tennis.
The full tour field returns to action this weekend at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., where Kuchar is joined by Roberto Castro, Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley, Bryce Molder and Cameron Tringale at the Innisbrook Resort. All but Hadley are currently among the top 125 in FedEx Cup points.
Molder was inducted last week into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, and Tech coach Bruce Heppler was there to honor his four-time All-American.
