Larsen Ties For 17th at Western Refining Golf

Nov. 21, 2006

Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii – Kevin Larsen shot an even-par 71 in the final round Tuesday to tie for 17th place, and Georgia Tech teammate Cameron Tringale finished with a 70 to finish in 22nd place at the Western Refining Collegiate All-American Classic in El Paso, Texas.

Both Yellow Jacket players played solid golf but failed to card low enough numbers to contend for the title, won by Georgia’s Chris Kirk after he posted a seven-under-par 64 Tuesday and won by five shots over Florida’s Billy Horschel. Kirk’s 54-hole total was a tournament-record 18-under-par 195 at the par-71 El Paso Country Club.

Larsen finished at one-under 212 for the tournament, while Tringale recorded a one-over 214 total.

Tech’s golf team is off until early February, when the spring season begins at the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
