Chesson Hadley shot an afternoon round of 5-under-par 66 and is in a tie for fourth place after two rounds of the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas.
Hadley, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., played a no-bogey round while posting three birdies and an eagle (on the 9th hole) in posting his 10th subpar score in 11 fall rounds. His 6-under-par total of 136 is three shots off the lead of Aaron Goldberg of San Diego State (66-67=133).
Trent Leon of Oklahoma State and Webb Simpson of Wake Forest are one shot back at 8-under-par 134.
Twenty-eight collegiate All-Americans are competing in the 54-hole event at the El Paso Country Club. The tournament, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, is played at the Par-71, 6,817-yard El Paso Country Club. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
Hadley posted a 1-under-par 70 in the morning round, recovering from an opening double-bogey to post six birdies and three bogeys.
Tech’s Cameron Tringale, a junior from Laguna Niguel, Calif., opened with a 3-over 74 and followed with a 1-over 72 in the afternoon and is a tie for 18th place.
