Hadley Named National Player of the Week

Sept. 17, 2007

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech golfer Chesson Hadley, who won the Carpet Capital Collegiate event in Rocky Face, Ga., last weekend for his first collegiate victory, has been named men’s national player of the week by Golfweek magazine.

The sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., won the individual medal by three strokes over Alabama All-American Michael Thompson, firing rounds of 65-69-74 for a 54-hole total of 208, eight shots under par. He helped lift Tech to a third-place finish, one shot behind Alabama and South Carolina.

Hadley has finished in the top 10 in each of his last four events, dating back to last spring’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. He tied for ninth at the ACC, tied for seventh at the NCAA East Regional and tied for fourth at the NCAA Championship.
