Hadley Maintains Lead, Tech Third In Carpet Capital

ATLANTA – Chesson Hadley shot a 3-under-par 69 Saturday, opening a four-shot lead in the individual race, and 8th-ranked Georgia Tech moved up to third place after the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga.

Hadley, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., had four birdies and a bogey at The Farm Golf Club, a 6.906-yard, par 72 layout. His 36-hole total of 134 is 10-under-par and four shots clear of Georgia State’s Joel Sjoholm.

Freshman Paul Haley shot 73 Saturday for Tech and is in a tie for 37th place at 6-over 150. Sophomore David Dragoo and junior Taylor Hall each carded 74s Saturday for Tech, which shot 2-over 290 and is six strokes back of South Carolina heading into Sunday’s final round.

The Gamecocks shot 288 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 580, five shots ahead of Auburn (287 – 585). Tech is at 586 for two rounds, with Alabama in fourth place at 587. Duke is in fifth place at 589.
