Atlanta – Chesson Hadley and Cameron Tringale were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, June 4, 2007.
Hadley, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., finished the 2007 NCAA Division I Golf Championship, held this past weekend in Williamsburg, Va., in a tie for fourth place. Coming off a first round 2-over-par, he made up ground on the leader board by posting scores of 3-under and 4-under in rounds two and three of the competition, putting him in a tie for second place heading into the final round. His final round, even par score placed him in a tie for fourth overall and helped Georgia Tech to an eighth overall finish at this year’s championship.
Tringale, the sophomore from Laguna Niguel, Calif., finished the championship event in a tie for ninth place. Tringale began the tournament strong by firing a first round 67, 3-under par, placing him in a tie for third place. He continued his stellar performance in rounds two and three by posting scores of 2-under and 1-under respectively, placing him in a tie for first heading into the final round of competition. He finished the tournament with a solid round of 4-over par which placed him in the ninth overall position for the tournament.
Hadley, Tringale, and senior Roberto Castro were named to the 2007 PING All-South region team on Wednesday, May 30th.
