The PGA Tour celebrates its biggest event this weekend with The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., an event won by two former Yellow Jackets, David Duval in 1999 and Matt Kuchar in 2012. In both cases, they won The Players at the crest of their rise to prominence on the PGA Tour. Duval rose to No. 1 in the world that year, won four events and accumulated more than $3.6 in earnings. Kuchar won more than $3.9 million in 2012 and finished ninth in the FedEx Cup.
Kuchar, No. 2 on the FedEx Cup list currently, returns to action their this weekend after two weeks off along with Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley, Ollie Schniederjans and Richy Werenski.
Hadley was the only Yellow Jacket to make the cut last weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, playing consistently well over four rounds (71-71-71-70) to tie for 15th place at 5-under-par 283. He nudged up two spots to 38th in FedEx Cup points and has surpassed $1 million in earnings this year.
