Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report

Oct. 10, 2017

THE FLATS – Chesson Hadley made his return to the PGA Tour a strong one over the weekend, while all four Yellow Jackets in the field at the Safeway Open made the cut and got a head start on the 2017-18 FedEx Cup race.

Hadley capitalized on a second-round 61, his best ever on Tour, to post a 12-under-par 276 and tie for third place with Phil Mickelson, three strokes behind winner Brendan Steele. Ollie Schniederjans, trying to build on a fine rookie campaign in which he finished 60th in FedEx Cup points, tied for 17th place at 7-under-par 281, while Ricky Werenski, No. 106 last year as a rookie, tied for 37th place at 284 (-4). Cameron Tringale, who wound up No. 37 on the priority list among the 50 who earned PGA Tour status following the Web.com Finals, tied for 43rd place.

Schniederjans and Werenski will travel across the Pacific this week to join Stewart Cink for the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the beginning of a three-week Asian swing. Cink is coming off a tremendous comeback year in which he nearly advanced to the Tour Championship and collected more than $1.4 million in earnings.

In Round 2 of the 2017 Safeway Open, Chesson Hadley shot a career low round as well as a course record and is one shot off the lead.

Following a third-round 70 at the Safeway Open, Chesson Hadley talks about the difficulty of following up his second-round of 61.

In the second round of the 2017 Safeway Open, Ollie Schniederjans drops his 184-yard tee shot inside a foot on the par-3 11th hole, resulting in a tap-in birdie.
