THE FLATS – Anders Albertson completes a wire-to-wire victory for his second Korn Ferry Tour triumph … Matt Kuchar, Vince Whaley make late challenges at the AT&T Byron Nelson, four of five Jackets make the cut … More details below in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

ALBERTSON NOTCHES SECOND CAREER KORN FERRY VICTORY
Anders Albertson returned to the Korn Ferry Tour winner’s circle for the first time since 2018, as he outlasted 2022 regular season points list leader Carl Yuan down the stretch of the Visit Knoxville Open. Albertson two-putted for birdie at the 72nd hole, the par-5 18th at Holston Hills Country Club, and finished one stroke ahead of Yuan, who held the outright lead through 13 holes of Sunday’s final round.
Albertson created two-shot swings with birdies at the par-3 14th and par-4 15th, then stuck an approach pin high and inside of 20 feet at No. 18 as he polished off a 4-under 66 and his third bogey-free scorecard of the week. Albertson’s birdie at the 18th took him to 20-under par for the tournament and secured the $135,000 winner’s check.
Albertson’s only previous Korn Ferry Tour victory came at the 2018 Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS, where he birdied two of the final three holes for a two-stroke win.
With the win, Albertson rose from No. 52 to No. 9 on the Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season Points List, putting him within 186 points (roughly a solo third finish) of the current #TOURBound fail-safe threshold of 900 points. Should Albertson reach the 900-point mark in the coming months, it would secure his second trip to the PGA TOUR, as he previously graduated following the 2018 Korn Ferry Tour season.
Meanwhile, Chris Petefish birdied 17 and 18 to post a tie for 24th place finish and secure a spot in this week’s AdventHealth Championship in Kansas City, Mo. Paul Haley II, who had held the highest position on the Korn Ferry Tour points rankings among the Yellow Jackets on that tour, missed the cut but remains 20th on the list.

KUCHAR, WHALEY CHALLENGE IN FINAL ROUND AT AT&T BYRON NELSON
Matt Kuchar and Vincent Whaley each made a charge to challenge the leaders Sunday and post strong finishes at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Kuchar used a strong putting round (read round recap) to post an 8-under-par 64 and tie for 12th at 20-under-par 268. Whaley was steady the entire weekend in his hometown event with rounds of 69-69-66-67 for a 17-under-par total of 271 and tie for 25th place in the low-scoring event at TPC Craig Ranch.
Seth Reeves and Chesson Hadley also made the cut and tied for 69th place at 10-under-par 278.
Stewart Cink and Cameron Tringale both took the week off to prep for this week’s PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., the second major championship of 2022.
