THE FLATS – Cameron Tringale salvages his first WGC Match Play opportunity by beating a Bulldog opponent … Vincent Whaley has solid weekend in the Dominican … Anders Albertson posts best 2022 finish on the Korn Ferry Tour … More details below in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

TRINGALE SALVAGES WEEKEND WITH WIN OVER BULLDOG
It wasn’t a weekend to remember in Austin, Texas for Cameron Tringale, but the Yellow Jacket All-American left with a good taste in his mouth. Tringale was unable to advance from group play at his first World Golf Championships DELL Technology Match Play, losing his first two matches to Will Zalatoris and Viktor Hovland, but he exited Austin on a winning note by defeating former Georgia player Sepp Straka, 5 & 3, in his third match.
Tringale was ranked 51st in the Official World Golf Ranking entering Match Play, but failing to advance out of group play dropped him to 52nd and cost him a potential invitation to the Masters, which invites the top 50 players in the world rankings.

WHALEY SOLID IN THE DOMINICAN
Vincent Whaley and Seth Reeves both made the cut last weekend at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic, Whaley tying for 28th and Reeves for 62nd.
Whaley posted a 7-under-par score of 281 for his best finish since the Sony Open in January in Hawai’i, and held position at No. 105 on the FedEx Cup points list. Reeves is No. 158. Chesson Hadley missed the cut for the 11th time in 16 tournaments in 2021-22.

ALBERTSON MAKES BIG JUMP ON KORN FERRY TOUR
Treading water with a pair of middling finishes and one missed cut in four events this year, Anders Albertson finally got the performance he was looking for last weekend with a tie for fourth place at the Lake Charles Championship in Louisiana.
The former Tech All-American put together rounds of 70-65-67-68 for a 14-under-par total of 270, which was for shots out of a playoff for the title but good enough to launch him more than 100 places on the Korn Ferry Tour points to No. 46. The top 25 points leaders at the end of the season earn PGA Tour cards for 2022-23. Albertson had missed the cut the previous week in Louisiana and tied for 57th and 55th in his other two events this season.
Paul Haley II, who has had a runner-up finish and a tie for 14th among his six events this season, missed the cut at Lake Charles but remains No. 14 in points. Two other former Tech stars, J.T. Griffin and Luke Schniederjans, won spots on the field through Monday qualifying but missed the cut.
The Korn Ferry Tour comes to Georgia this week for the Club Car Championship in Savannah, and both Albertson and Haley are in the field.
Will Dickson paced the field at Monday qualifying for the event, carding 7-under 65 at Forest Heights CC to secure a tee time Thursday at The Landings Club (Deer Creek).
Dickson, who resides in Atlanta, made four birdies and two eagles Monday against a single bogey. The Georgia Tech alum, embarking on his first full season as a professional golfer, made history in Rhode Island by winning four consecutive high school state titles.
Earlier this year, Dickson told WJAR (Providence’s NBC affiliate) that he hoped to call himself a Korn Ferry Tour member by the end of 2022. Similar performances as Monday would go a long way in making that vision a reality. This will mark Dickson’s first career Korn Ferry Tour start.
