Georgia Tech Golf Team Finishes Sixth at Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship

ATLANTA – Roberto Castro shot three-over-par Sunday and moved into a tie for 15th place individually, while No. 2-ranked Georgia Tech posted a nine-over-par team score of 297 to finish sixth place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Golf Championship in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tech (297-283-297 – 877) finished sixth, seven strokes ahead of conference foe Wake Forest (297-283-304 – 884), 22-strokes behind host team and champion UNLV (294-281-280 – 855). Georgia finished in second place, with Florida, top-ranked Oklahoma State and Arizona State rounding out the top-five.

Castro finished the tournament two-over-par after carding a 75 in the final round. The Alpharetta, Ga. native finished tied for 15th just nine stokes off the leader Mark Anderson of South Carolina.

Chan Song and Nicholas Thompson finished tied for 25th at six-over-par, while Kevin Larsen and Mike Barbosa were both at +8 to finish 35th.
