ATLANTA – Three Georgia Tech baseball players – Luke Bard, Zane Evans and Brandon Thomas – have been named to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford.

Thomas, Evans and Bard are each management majors and are three of 21 ACC baseball student-athletes to have earned spots on the squad on at least one previous occasion.
Thomas, who was drafted in the fourth round by Pittsburgh earlier this month, has also been named First Team All-ACC, ABCA All-Region, Second Team Capital One Academic All-America, First Team Capital One Academic All-District and been on both the NCAA Gainesville Region and ACC All-Tournament Teams.
Heading up the 2012 All-ACC Academic Team is Florida State outfielder James Ramsey, the 2012 ACC Player of the Year, ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, 2012 Capital One Baseball Academic Player of the Year and Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The voting committee also considers athletic achievement and game participation when selecting the team.
