A valuable two-way player who is a good defensive catcher, a consistent hitter with power at the plate and emerged as a shutdown late-game reliever as a sophomore… As a freshman, was Georgia Tech[apos]s first everyday rookie starting catcher since Jason Varitek in 1991.

Named to ACC All-Tournament Team… Academic All-ACC selection… Named to the NCAA Gainesville Regional All-Tournament Team… Started 59 games at either catcher or designated hitter… Made one start on the mound (at Georgia on 3/20)… Made 18 relief appearances and registered saves… His seven saves led the team and ranked tied for seventh in the ACC… His 12 multi-RBI games were second on the club and he drove in six game-winning runs… Made an early impact on the mound as his first two career pitching appearances came on opening weekend… Retired six straight batters (four Ks) to finish off a one-hitter thrown by Matthew Grimes vs. Winthrop (2/17)… Recorded his first career save the next day vs. Winthrop… Did it all for Tech at No. 30 Georgia Southern (2/22) — catching seven innings, hitting the go-ahead three-run homer to break an 8-8 tie in the eighth, and pitched the bottom of the eighth to preserve the lead… Finished that GSU game 2-for-5 and set a career-high with four RBI… Went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two walks and matched his career-high of three runs in the Ohio State series opener (2/24) — a 12-4 Tech win… Was 3-for-4 and matched his career high of four RBI in the win at NC State (3/9)… Was 3-for-4 in 9-1 win over Virginia Tech (3/18) with a double, RBI, two runs, and gunned down two potential steal attempts… Made his first career start on the mound at Georgia (3/20) and pitched four innings, allowing six hits and four runs (two earned), but was dealt the loss… Recorded his second save this season (and second career) with 2.0 innings vs. Mercer on 4/10… Pitched two innings at Wake Forest (4/14) to nail down his third save… Tied a career-high with three hits vs. Georgia State (4/17), going 3-for-5, with two RBI and two runs… Matched his career high with a pair of doubles in the 4-2 win at No. 6 North Carolina (4/21) — the second of which was an RBI double that made the lead 4-2 in the eighth… Matched his career high of four strikeouts in 2.1 innings in the 4-3 win over Georgia at Turner Field (4/24)… Recorded his fourth career save, coming on in the 10th with one out and two on at No. 22 Virginia (5/13) and getting the final two outs in order — that was after he hit the go-ahead home run with two outs in top of 10th… He homered twice in the Virginia series… Did not allow a hit in 1.1 innings versus No. 21 Miami to record his fifth career save, a game that clinched the final ACC Tournament spot for Tech… Came up big during Tech[apos]s run to the ACC Tournament title and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team… He had a monster week in Greensboro by hitting .444 with three doubles, a homer, two runs and 10 RBI (including a career-high 6 RBI vs. Virginia), and pitched three perfect innings for a save in title-game win over Miami… Was untouched in those three dominant innings versus the Hurricanes with three Ks to close out the ACC Championship game victory… He hit a two-RBI single earlier in the game to give Tech an 8-5 cushion… Went 2-for-4 versus No. 1 Florida in the NCAA Gainesville Regional (6/2)… In an NCAA elimination game versus College of Charleston (6/3), he hit an RBI double in the sixth inning to break a 0-0 tie, and then fired the final three innings with one hit and one strikeout to nail down his seventh save in the 3-0 Tech win… Earned a spot on the NCAA Gainesville Regional All-Tournament Team.
