KONA, Hawaii (Feb. 17) — Georgia Tech junior golfer Bryce Molder fired an opening-round 66 to take the individual lead after the first round of play at the 2000 Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate Golf Invitational in Kona, Hawaii.
Molder, ranked No. 4 nationally by GolfWeek, holds a one shot lead over J.J. Wall of Texas and Andrew Tredway of Oregon.
Texas, ranked No. 27, holds the team lead after the first round of play after compiling a team score of two-under par 278. Fresno State and TCU share second place a stroke behind, each having posted a score of 279.
No. 1 Georgia Tech finds itself tied with Oregon after one round three strokes off the pace, as each finished with an opening-round team score of one-over par, 281.
The Jackets’ Matt Kuchar stands tied for fourth in the individual competition through one round, after a two-under par score of 68.
Play continues on Friday and Saturday at the Waikoloa Resort, with play on the Beach Course (6,566 yds, par 70) and Kings’ Course (6,594 yds, par 72).
