WAIKOLOA, Hawaii (Feb. 19) — Georgia Tech junior Bryce Molder and senior Matt Kuchar each posted a three-day score of six-under par 208 to share medalist honors while leading the No. 1 Tech golf team to its second straight victory in the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
Kuchar posted one of the best rounds of the day by firing a one-under par 71 on the 7,074 yard, par-72, Kings Course layout at the Waikoloa resort. He and Molder finished three shots ahead of Arizona State’s Paul Casey who finished third.
The senior from Lake Mary, Fla. is presently ranked seventh in the nation by Golf Week, and shares the medalist honor with one of his teammates at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate for the second straight year. Last February, Kuchar and Carlton Forrester shared the individual title in Hawaii.
Molder, ranked fourth in the nation individually by Golf Week, led after all three rounds in a tournament while helping lead Tech to the team victory.
Rounding out the Tech squad on Saturday were Carlton Forrester who finished tied for 19th after posting a 75, Troy Matteson who finished tied for 39th with a 76 in the final round, and Wes Latimer who posted a final-round 76 finishing tied for 44th.
The Jackets entered the final round with a five shot lead over Arizona State, and posted the third lowest round of the day on Saturday with a seven-over par score of 295.
Tech returns to the links on Feb. 27 as the Jackets head to Puerto Rico for the 2000 Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar C.C.
