>> Winners of four straight and six of its last seven, Georgia Tech continues its road swing at No. 13 North Carolina this weekend. All three games of the series can be seen on ESPN3.
>> The Yellow Jackets have won the series from the Tar Heels in four consecutive seasons. Last year in Atlanta, Tech beat No. 1 UNC on Mott Hyde’s walk-off homer in the ninth on Friday and Zane Evans’ walk-off single in the 11th of the finale.
>> Three Jackets enter the weekend among the ACC’s hitting leaders — Thomas Smith (.357, 7th), Matt Gonzalez (.350, 15th) and Daniel Spingola (.347, 16th). Gonzalez leads the NCAA in sacrifice flies (7) and is second in the ACC in doubles (10).
>> Opponents are hitting .161 off Tech’s relievers over this four-game win streak and the bullpen has three of the wins. In the two Miami victories, Tech’s didn’t allow a hit in 10 innings of relief.
>> Senior Mott Hyde, who leads all active NCAA players in games played and starts (209), is one shy of his 200th career hit.
>> Tech, which led the ACC in home runs at this point last season, leads the ACC this year in doubles (49) and triples (8).
