ATLANTA – Cameron Tringale shot a four-under-par 67 in second round action to pace the third-ranked Yellow Jackets to a 14-shot lead at the UH Hilo Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Tringale was one of only four players out of the 105 competing to shoot in the 60s during the second round of play. The junior from Laguna Niguel, Calif., currently leads the tournament with a 10-under par score while Oklahoma State’s Pablo Martin stands in second at eight-under-par.
Georgia Tech got strong performances from the entire team as junior Kevin Larsen and freshman Taylor Hall both shot one-under-par 70’s during the second round, and senior Mike Barbosa and junior Roberto Castro shot one-over-par 72’s. All five Tech golfers are currently in the top-10 as Larsen holds the third spot overall at five-under-par while Hall is tied for eighth at 3-under-par and Castro and Barbosa are both tied for 10th at 2-under-par.
The Jackets (21-under-par 547) hold a 14-shot lead over No. 2 Oklahoma State (seven-under-par 561). Southern California stands in third place at 3-under-par while Washington and Hawaii are tied for fourth at four-over-par.
Tech will compete in the final round on Friday which is set to start at noon Eastern time.
